Tropical Storm Isaac hit Haiti on August 24 and 25, 2012, bringing torrential rain and high wind to the southern coast of the island. Twenty-four residents were killed as the tropical storm passed over Hispaniola and over 5,000 residents were evacuated from their homes and refugee camps. The country's capital, Port-au-Prince, became heavily flooded and over 350,000 homes were destroyed, including fragile tent camps for survivors of the island's 2010 earthquake.
Due to the damage in Haiti caused by Issac, beginning August 29, 2012, Vedere will be donating 50% of new vendor's first month membership fees to a charitable aid organization. Any and all funds will be used to help those in Haiti who lost their homes, resources, and personal items due to the storm's harsh conditions. New vendors must use the promotional code “HAITI” when signing up for a Vedere storefront in order for half of their membership fee to be donated. The effort will be ongoing until special promotional code will be offered for a limited time, expiring October 31, 2012.
